The Seasonal Desire Not to do Things

Tomorrow I could go for a drive and then walk on snow shoes to get to the top of a peak I have wanted to go up for a while. What slows down my desire to do this is the possible need to wear snowshoes. In theory they’re fine but ordinarily I find snowshoeing quite hard compared to just walking in snow. The advantage of this walk is that if it was cold and people have already walked the route, then the snow is compacted and walking in hiking shoes will be fine.

The Daily Workout

Every single day I walk, run, or cycle. It doesn’t matter whether it’s rainy, sunny, windy, snowy or other. I do this out of habit. I know of quite a few routes that I can walk, run or cycle so there are variants. Some are long, some are short. If it’s going to rain I may choose a shorter route. Leysins Group Hike Today I could have driven to Leysin to do a group hike.

Wake Up and Run Before the Sunrise in Nyon

This morning I got up at 4am to go for a run with strangers in Nyon. The meeting time was 05:10 and the run/jog/walk began at 05:30. Before the run Activ Fitness gave us a warm up workout that I followed half-heartedly. I had already walked 3km so my body was warm. I now needed to remain warm before the run itself. For some people the idea of getting up at 4am to run at 0530 is an absurd one.

Day Fifteen of ORCA in Switzerland – Pandemic Fatigue

Now that we’re in week 5 of self-isolation and Day fifteen of ORCA I am getting pandemic fatigue. As it’s Monday I could make the effort of going to the shops to get fresh food rather than deplete the reserves I have but my motivation is not there. It has come cold and windy and the rate of infection is still high. I expect that by the end of today Vaud will hit the three thousand case mark.
