The Desire to Cycle on Saturday

Page content

I am in the process of forming a new habit and that habit is to cycle on Saturday mornings. In cycling on Saturday mornings I keep Saturday afternoon free for other things. I can take care of washing clothes and more. It also gives me time to rest and recover before Sunday.

By accident I signed up for a hike and now I am torn between going for the hike, which requires trains, and potentially meeting two or three people, or sticking to my usual plan of going for a bike ride.

If the hike was on Sunday then this would be ideal, as I can do both on the same weekend. As they are on the same day I have to choose. Rationally I have to go for the bike ride because I have wanted to have a group to cycle with for years.

At the time of writing I do not know what the route will be but I know that the cycling loop should be about fifty five kilometres. This weekend I do not want to push myself hard.

I know that I have the endurance to push myself on Saturday and Sunday, as proved last weekend. With potential rain on Saturday, and Sunday it doesn’t make sense to plan something too far away, although with clouds it can be good for taking photos.

And Finally

Two weekends in a row I pushed myself to my limit with cycling groups. I am now confident that I can go for a bike ride on Saturday, and then hike on Sunday. If the weather was better for Sunday afternoon and evening I would be tempted to organise a hike.

We will see how I feel after a short walk this afternoon.
