Watching Films Again
During the pandemic I became unable to listen to podcasts, watch television series and watch films. Each of these media reminded me of how dreadfully my existence had become during the pandemic. Instead of watching films and television series I listened to tech podcasts and watched people play computer games. The reason for this was simple. It didn’t remind me of my loneliness so it was bearable.
I was watching people play GTA V and a few other games, before eventually losing interest and watching other content. It’s only when I started to do group activities with people in the physical world, as I like to call it, that I got the ability to watch films and television series again. Now that life is “normal” again I am not reminded of what is impossible anymore. I am reminded of what I aspire to, once again.
It’s nice to have resumed watching films and television series, in the evenings, before bed. It’s nice to have made it through the tunnel of pandemic solitude and re-emerged on the other side. I am still not back to normal. I still mask if I’m in a crowded space, or too close to others, but other than that doing group activities has become normal again.
In recent weeks I did the Charmey VF, hiked the Areuse, hiked the Orbe, went to Leukerbad for the VF and hike, and more activities. I am no longer doing solitary hikes within walking distance of home. Even cycling increased once again.
I could be specific about the films I am watching but the post is about once again consuming mainstream films and television series rather than watching YouTube content that did not remind me of the solitude I was trying to cope with. The next step will be to get back into the habit of doing things indoors, despite places being crowded.
