The Morning Bike Ride

As it is meant to be warmer over the next few days I went for a bike ride this morning, rather than in the afternoon. The rational is that by going for a morning bike ride traffic could have been less. The other reason is that it’s slightly cooler in the morning than in the afternoon.

Today wasn’t a warm day, but I felt like going for a bike ride, and I wanted to see if a different time of day made it more pleasant. It did. I also tried an elongated loop this time around.

I cycled from Nyon to Gland up to Vick and then upwards towards Genolier before heading back down before heading for another higher village, before crossing Trelex, Gingins, Bonmont, La Rippe and then across the border into France, down to Divonne and then across to Grilly before heading down the long straight bit, before turning towards Mies, and then Coppet, back to Nyon.

I tried, as much as possible to be away from main roads and it worked. It was a two hour ride, covering 53.02 kilometres with an average speed of 24.7 km/h despite stopping to look at books twice. If I had not stopped for the books it would have been 25+ kilometres per hour.

If group rides were more regular I would enjoy riding with a group rather than solo. it’s nice to be within a cocoon of sorts, although most people overtook me carefully today.

Despite saying that the weather was cooler I still drank 800ml during the ride and didn’t have much appetite as a result of the ride. I needed time to cool off.

Friday is a rest day and then Saturday is a VF and Sunday might be a hike. We will see.
