Two weeks of recreation

The next two weeks or so shall see me resting but not from media work. There’s a good chance I’ll be working on a project about a Prison in the Lebanon. It was shot a few weeks ago and the person in charge of the project needs help with the editing. It looks as though it’s going to be an interesting project. I’ve already viewed quite a bit of footage, read the voice over text and discussed the idea.

Swimming competitions and your viewing future

The media is in a time of convergence and that’s what some people find fascinating. i’m listening to a number of podcasts about technology, the media and computing in order to keep informed on developments. Today I will be working once again with footage that has been shot in another country. What makes this particularly interesting is that the footage is coming from Hungary whilst I will be in Switzerland. I will see the races take place, then I will cut the video, add some text and upload it to a website.

The future of the media

Over the next two weeks, I am working in part of what will become part of the new media landscape. I receive footage via satellite and edit short summaries to become video clips on the official site of the organisation. At the moment it’s not visible to the normal public but it is an interesting activity. As part of my dissertation, I have to understand where the documentary has come from and where it’s going.

La fête des collabos

Here are some images from the party. I’m still in the process of uploading the images but the pages can be found at this location

The end of paleo and back to normal life

For the past week I was at Paleo going from concert to concert during the first few days and gradually moving towards other activites. It’s good fun as it’s the most sociable time aorund this part of Switzerland. I took quite a few images which I have yet to upload. This should be done within the next few days anyway.

About

Priya - Feb 6, 2017 Dear Richard, How are you? My name is Priya, and I came across your blog while looking up blogs about Ingress. I am pursuing my Masters in Tourism. For my dissertation, I want to research on how Location Based Games (specifically Ingress) influences tourism at a destination. Even though you mentioned last February, that you are no longer playing Ingress, I was wondering if you could spare me some time to talk about your experience in general.

About

A year ago I founded Mainvision Productions SàRL to focus my attention on the production of documentaries and short films. At the moment I am in post production for a low budget film called Oxy, which was filmed a few months ago. I also work as a consultant for Eurovision, helping with network resource management. I would love to produce a documentary about Via Ferrata. I am familiar with many of those in Switzerland and France within a three hour driving radius of Geneva.

E-mail security

Many people have e-mail accounts and enjoy writing to their friends every day, but little do they know about the dangers of hackers or people who have too much time on their hands. A few weeks ago while I was on the computers it struck me how simple it might be to enter someone’s account. I therefore wondered what methods there were of finding passwords. Chain letters: We all receive many forwards, chain letters and so on.

Increase your surfing speed

Is your internet connection slow, do pages take a long time to load, do you visit certain sites more than others? If your answer to any of these is yes then I suggest that you download Netsonic, a program I have tested which works well, since I’ve installed it my browsing is much faster. At first it’s normal for the netsonic program to seem a little slower but once you’ve started using it and it some files are cached the surfing speed will be far greater since pages which are constantly visited load faster.
