Vincent Cochetel gave a very good speech at TEDxPlaceDesNations in December. He received a standing ovation for it’s content. I was lucky enough to be in the audience on that day. In light of today’s events I believe that this is the right video to share.
An interesting talk about thankless jobs and how to make them more rewarding.
We need to take time to think. We need to avoid external stimuli and spend time with our thoughts. We desire to move and to achieve which drives the economy forward at the cost of forgetting to give ourselves times. The talk explores time and space. It also explores the popular concept of going offline to recharge. In my experience moving from one social network to another has the same impact as taking a social media break but this after 20 years of trial and error.
A charismatic fourteen year old speaks about how he did some research, got some money approved and then ordered and built a nuclear fusion reactor in a classroom
Taking sound samples from around CERN a flow machine was used to make music. It sounds like music you’d expect to hear at L’Usine in Geneva. It is interesting to see how the audience get up and start to dance.
Having ten billion people to feed will have consequences.
Every day I walk around with my TEDxCERN lanyard. TEDxCERN, for me, was an opportunity to listen to seventeen talks in one afternoon without being bored or distracted. Some people spoke well, others were charismatic and one or two were pitching rather than talking. That didn’t matter. I enjoyed the event and felt inspired. As the videos are available I will share one of these videos per day until I run out.
An interesting talk on the importance of thinking of questions rather than knowing answers. As knowledge increases so the number of questions increases. Learning is one thing but a feedback system is more interesting.
