Running Fun With Fountains in a Heat Wave

Today I had the pleasure of going for a run early. I had planned to run at 07:30 to finish right as the shops were opening but I felt too lazy, so I was at the shops by 08:20 and running a few minutes later. I was thinking “Oh it’s still early, so I don’t need to run with water. That was a mistake. What wasn’t a mistake is choosing a course that passes by a number of fountains.

The Subtle Art of Being a Morning Person During a Heatwave

I see news reports and articles that say “Don’t do sports during a heatwave”, which, to me is bad advice. It’s not bad advice to tell people not to push and overheat at the hottest point of the day. It is bad advice not to say “Try to run in the morning” and “Be sure to have water nearby to help cool your body” or even “make sure to run by a river, in a forest, where evapotranspiration is possible.

Wordle and Word Tips

Recently I started playing Wordle again and I have a win streak of thirty four days. Now that I have written this down I will lose it within a day or two, for being too confident. Some people have been playing for over 1000 days and I would assume that within two or three guesses they will get the right word.

I am not that fast. I followed some programming courses on Linkedin Learning, Udemy and one or two other places so as I played wordle I thought “what if I use a tool to help me eliminate words. At first I tried using AI for this task but AI is not good at such chores.

Idle Lumber Empire - Thoughts

Many weeks ago I was encouraged to download Idle Lumber, but for weeks I didn’t bother to play the game. I don’t like new games, because I’m old, and I liked games where we bought the game, and then we could play for hours, with no instructions, unless we read the fabulous manual. With modern games they force you to RTFM rather than play and experiment.

Luckily this game isn’t awful, in this respect, so I have played it for two or three days and upgraded to new factories several times. I think the game play is good. It has just the right amount of actions to render it addictive. Until you take an overnight break and find that you need to tell the lumber trucks to go and pick up lumber every few minutes, and then you see that it’s a pay to win game.
