Cycling around the Léman is a challenge that I could try with a group on Sunday. It would begin and end in Geneva. My maximum range so far is 180 kilometres, and a fast ride, for me, is twenty five kilometres per hour. The group set a goal of 27 kilometres per hour.
Recently I have cycled with people at up to thirty kilometres per hour. That was on shorter rides. I worry that cycling at such a speed will be unsustainable for me.
This morning I ran towards the lake. If I had continued going west I could have gone to the Piscine De Colovray, had a swim, and then walked home or taken a publibike, once I was tired enough. In fact I live along the course for the Nyon Triathlon so I could easily train for the triathlon without needing to use a car.
I believe that I suffer from Rhume des Foins (hayfever) so when I went to sleep congested, and woke up congested I thought “There’s no way I’m doing that 10km run. I checked what my Garmin watch recommended as a run and when I saw that the recommendation was a 35 minute run I grabbed the chance. Even with pollen a 35 minute run is comfortable.
Yesterday I noticed that there is a good event for people who like to walk, cycle, rollerblade, skateboard and more. The Lavaux Slowup is scheduled for the 9th of June 2024 this year.
The advantage of a slow up is that roads are closed to traffic so for a few hours people can benefit from the entire width of the road to cycle, walk, run, scoot, rollerblade or do other sports.
Today I walked down from a village towards the Léman and passed by the UEFA headquarters and football fields before walking by the car Park to the Colovrey Swimming pool. There were very few people, except a few cyclists. The road was good. I went down to the water and took two or three pictures before heading back up.
I walked by the lake because, on a windy day a few days ago I saw the lake, and felt tempted to go down. At the time I didn’t go down because I hadn’t decided on that walk, but also because it could be a little more physical. A second time I was tempted but chose to play Ingress instead.

With the weather system that we have had over Europe a lot of rain has fallen. So much rain has fallen that it has swollen rivers and flooded plenty of regions. In Switzerland, because almost everything is on a hill flooding might be noticed in some parts of certain cities, but in theory it is easy, within meters, to be safe from the flood.

They announced that it would be windy today and it is. Windy days are fun because the lake goes from blue or green to English Breakfast tea brown. The waves crash against the walls and spray the promenade that goes from the Pont Du Mont Blanc to the Jardin Anglais. For now it’s getting things wet. With the right wind and low temperatures it could be great for the taking of photos.
