Years ago, after yet another speeding fine when driving between home and a scuba diving spot, or vice versa I was flashed and I thought “expensive cars are a waste of money, because the motorway is rarely quiet enough to drive at the speed limit, let alone to speed.
I rarely go to Geneva for two reasons. The first is that there is rarely a compelling reason to go into Geneva, except for work related things. The second reason is that Geneva is expensive to get into.
To get to Geneva and back, by train, will cost 9.40 CHF. According to a parking cost simulator the price comes to 9.50 for parking a petrol car, and five CHF to park an electric car.
For those of us living in Europe we now have the option of paying for Facebook and Instagram, not to see ads. In theory this is fantastic and we should be jumping on the opportunity.
I don’t feel that way. I had plenty of conversations, with uni friends, colleagues and more, until Zynga brought Farmville. When Farmville spammed our timelines and killed all conversations the value of Facebook as social network was destroyed because instead of conversing and networking we were taking care of virtual farms.
The Unappealing Thought of Paying for Facebook Facebook would like us, in Europe, to start paying to use Facebook, Instagram and Threads, eventually. I will never pay for any of these services because they do not provide us with anything of value. The day we begin to pay for Facebook and Instagram we will be paying to be spammed by influencer content whilst not seeing content by friends, family and colleagues.
