Ovide: L'art D'aimer

Back ] Up ] Next ]

At the moment I am reading Ovid's Art D'aimer (the Art of Love) and it's an interesting read. When we think of ancient civilizations we always think of their lifestyles as being so different to our own and the values to have changed with the technology. In actual fact though human nature has remained quite the same for the past few thousand years.

The book is divided into several sections of which the first part is aimed at men trying to win over women whilst the third part of the book is dedicated to telling women how to seduce potential mates. The writing style is interesting because he takes mythology as a popular grounding for all of his statements and to facilitate his explanations.

This page is still being worked on, I'll try to select several interesting passages which I think you may find interesting.

Please check this page again within the near future. I hope to have it further on within the next few days.
