Spring is Coming
Recently it has been feeling warmer as spring is making an appearance. I noticed that buds and leaves are getting ready. Orchids are flowering and trees are ready. I also noticed that there is quite a bit of pollen in the air and it’s warmer. Warm enough to start thinking about cycling.
I went for a bike yesterday and I felt warm enough for almost the entire bike ride. This feels good. It feels good to be able to leave the boring winter. Boring for the lack of snow. It’s not that winter is boring, but that mild winters are. I like when winter looks and feels like winter.
It means we can wear fewer layers, and that we will cycle more, and climb, and more. On the downside it means more noise pollution from people as they resume outdoor activities. Noise pollution from music, and drunk people laughing, and more. As I write this I can hear music noise pollution.
Do you hear audiobooks or podcast noise pollution? Nope, because people who listen to these have more empathy, not to subject people to noise pollution. One good reason for fans, and air conditioning is to avoid music as noise pollution.
I like spring for the sounds of nature. Birds and natural sounds. In an age where people spend 180-300 CHF on headphones, it’s a shame we have to put up with noise pollution.
I still want spring and summer, but if we didn’t have the noise from so many people it would be more enjoyable. That’s a good reason to go for group hikes and other activities. In theory the season of spring and summer sports has started.
