This weekend I cycled and I hiked. The bike ride was up to the Combe Blanche, and the hike was from Vallorbe to Croy-Romainmôtier.
The Col de la Combe Climb For the bike ride we rode from Nyon heading towards Crans before heading up to La Rippe, and from La Rippe we went along for a bit before heading up the Col De La Combe Blanche. it’s a 13 kilometre climb with around 1300m of climbing.
If you’ re looking for an uphill walk that is more physical than from Nyon to La Dôle and Leukerbad to Lammenhütte then the walk from Montreux to Jaman will meet your requirements.
I did this hike with a group of people from Berne, Chateau D’Oex, and Geneva. It’s meant to take three and a half to four hours but we did it in a little over 3hrs, despite snow conditions.
I have gone up to Leukerbad at least three times for the via ferrata and this could have been the fourth or fifth time that I do it. I chose not to do it. During the pandemic I spent a lot of time hiking, with little to no exposure to heights. As a result of this I lost the habit of being high up.
I realised this when I was just three or four meters up on a sea defense in Javea/Xabia and felt afraid of the height I was at.
