The Day I ran my First Semi-Marathon

Yesterday was cold and grey when I set off on my daily walk/run and my intention was to go up to Cheserex across to Tranchepied and then back down towards Nyon. I had no intention of running a semi-marathon. The reason for which I ran so far is that I saw dog walkers and their dogs were not leashed. Years ago I was agressed by three dogs, one of them every time we crosssed paths, so now, if I’m alone, and I see a dog, I cross where the field boundary is, and then I continue my walk, run or bike ride.

Five Ten Kilometre Runs Later

Recently I ran with the goal of getting above the fog and I succeeded. The result was a 16km run. Since then I have run ten kilometre runs four more times. In the process I have shifted from not seeing myself to seeing myself as more of a runner than before. Last year I couldn’t run five hundred to eight hundred meters without my knees hurting. Instead of trying to run far I just tried to run as far as I could before I felt pain, and then stopped.

The Relaxed Long Ride Around the Mole and Back Via Mole

Yesterday I set off at about 07:20 feeling slightly tired and under the weather. While I rode into Geneva I felt that I couldn’t push too much and I questioned whether I should abort the ride. When I got near Geneva I thought “If I stay in my apartment I will be as warm as if I am outdoors, but without the breeze. I decided to go on the long variant anyway.

A Project to Cycle Around the Léman

Cycling around the Léman is a challenge that I could try with a group on Sunday. It would begin and end in Geneva. My maximum range so far is 180 kilometres, and a fast ride, for me, is twenty five kilometres per hour. The group set a goal of 27 kilometres per hour. Recently I have cycled with people at up to thirty kilometres per hour. That was on shorter rides.

Running from Eysins to Prangins Via Nyon

Today my watch said that I should run for 36 minutes or so so I obeyed. As a result of running for 36 minutes I got to Prangins and made it part of the way back before stopping and walking. In the process I ran for 5.8 kilometres rather than 5 and I learned a new lesson, mainly that Prangins is close and that I can connect a few places, if I am ready and willing to run.

Jumping On and Off Twitter

There are two types of Twitter users. Those that are still using it daily, and angry with what Musk is doing, and those that quit weeks ago, and come back every now and then to see how things have changed, or stayed the same. I am surprised that to some degree the site feels the same and yet, of course, it isn’t. I am surprised to see who stayed around, who is still using the site, and whether the community feels lively, or dead.

Playing with StatsHunters

Today I saw a link to Stats Hunters on the Google App so I clicked through on a laptop, once I was sitting at a computer. This is an app that looks at Strava data and gives you a summary of how many activities you’ve done as well as how far you have travelled. According to the data this Strava add on can access I have 2753 logged activities with a total distance of 25,l404 kilometres.
