I am in the final stretch of consolidation between Immich and my main library but I hit a snag. I have 197 GB of files in the Immich library to reconcile with 390 GB of images in my main library. Due to the Immich folder structure I can’t run a simple rsync command to combine the two.
Option A with Jdupes Alone The first option is to ask jdupes to check the main library with the uploads folder.
Picasa and iPhoto Picasa and iPhoto were great apps. Both were free. Both allowed you to manage your photos locally and both allowed you to take pictures with photo cameras, or your phone, and sync them then you got home. Over time our phones synced via the cloud to these apps.
We lost the habit of getting home and ingesting photos because everything was done automatically. We took pictures and they appeared in Picasa and iCloud and we didn’t think about it too much.
Those of us that are geeky, and old enough, will remember when apps were local and we saved data to internal and external hard drives. We would take photos with a camera, or a phone, and once we got home we would download them to our computer, using apps like Picasa and iPhoto. Both apps would help us to organise them chronolgically, and eventually by location, people in photos and much more.
Yesterday I went for a walk and during this walk I kept looking at the Jura. Above the Jura I could see a cumolonimbus cloud mushroom and grow upwards, before spreading out. This morning I read about a huge hail storm. I photographed that storm cell as it was growing. Yesterday I could see a few storm systems growing and I thought “maybe we’ll have storms this evening.” We didn’t, but some of them did.
Sometimes you drive home on the scooter and you look up at the sky and you think “When I get out of this village I’m going to stop by the side of the road and I’m going to take a picture of the clouds because they’re photogenic.
The reason for them being photogenic today is that they were rippled like the sea, rather than fluffy. Those ripples make you think of the sand underwater by the beach.
