Chronos who had killed his father Ouranos was in a dangerous position. He heard from Nymphs that he would be killed by his own son like he had done to his father. Since he had heard about what would happen he decided that he would not stop living with Hera but simply eat all children born from her. One day Hera gave birth to a boy which she found too beautiful and sweet to give to be eaten so she hid him. She took a rock, dressed it in the clothing which would have been for the child and gave it to Chronos to eat. He didn't notice that it was a rock and ate it leaving his wife behind. |
