My Dislike Of Cleaners

Several times I have had to clean the exterior of Airbus 320 and similiarly sized aircraft. You get some really long brushes and firehoses and you spray the plane before you clean it. it’s hard physical work and it’s done between midnight and five am. It’s not a pleasant job. Now that you know the type of cleaning I’ve done I want to express my deep dislike of cleaners and why.

A Larger Readership Than The Student Newspaper

A few days ago I was with a friend discussing the student media within my university. I’m not speaking about the content created by those in the various courses but rather about the student newspaper and television channel. It’s gone downhill over the past year. In my first year at uni although people poked fun at the student magazine they used to get it in order to get all the events listing.

Three Thousand To Go

In three thousand words my first dissertation draft will be ready. This evening I may be able to get up to ten thousand words and from that point on it will be about the re-writing of one section after another until I am happy that I have fit in as much relevant information as possible into the dissertation. It’s been great weather in London over the past two days especially. Far fewer planes were flying yesterday, therefore, there were far fewer contrails than usual.

Barbeque Sunrise - A Student excentricity.

There are many things I have done in the past but having a barbeque at five am whilst the birds are tweeting and the sun is rising is not within my normal realm of experiences. It was nice, felt more like the end of a festival night than anything else. The party took place at a friend’s place along the Metropolitan line. We arrived at about 7 pm and that moment everything about the party was normal, all the usual features, barbeques, people, drinks and more.

The Ten Thousand Word Project

Yesterday I woke up and within half an hour started working on my dissertation. For a few minutes, I added one or two more paragraphs of text before going on a search for interviews. I looked up Cousteau and arrived at the INA page. The INA is the french video archive online. It’s there that I found a quote from Jacques Yves Cousteau during the 1956 Cannes Film festival where he was talking about his documentaries.

I've been joost(ed)

pyrhana - Apr 5, 2007 Hey I would love an invite if you have an extra one. I have been hearing a lot about joost and it seems that either people love it or hate it and I would love to see for myself. thanks pltaylor3 at gmail.com Think it’s according to IP therefore it can only be used once. If I download the joost software both for PC and mac maybe I can login and offer some invites.

I've been joost(ed)

Twitter informed me that a friend got his Joost invite whilst I was in the library. I was looking for some books that had been recommended to me by someone I had interviewed for my dissertation so I did not pay much attention to this at the time. When I got home I saw that I too had not escaped the invite. Great, time to download and try it out, I thought, I was wrong.

Life on earth - as told by David Attenborough

Natural history is an interesting topic to study although whatching the documentaries can be quite challenging. Today I decided to buy a piece of documentary result and as a result I have struggled to stay awake for over two hours. It is not that I do not like these documentaries and it is not that I have not slept enough but simply that by their very nature early documentaries make staying awake a challenge.

Facebook Disappointment

What makes a professional camera professional? Direct access to all of the functions without going through ten sub-menus simply to adjust the sound level or open up the iris. What was great about Facebook. Everything was available on sight, not hidden away in sub-menu. They decided overnight to “simplify” the look but what they’ve done is forced me to think about the logical place for something to be and hoping I’m right.
