Reading While Charging

Today I went to charge the car. I took this opportunity to read. Some people may think “I’m going for a walk” or “I’m going shopping” or something else. When you charge a car you have an hour or two without distractions in which to spend time reading a book.

You could read from your phone, from a physical book, or from an e-reader. For one or two hours you have the sound of cars, and children throwing a tantrum, and more, but other than that you have “silence”. You’re in a bubble. You’re in the car. You can take this opportunity to read, and relax.

In theory you could even work from the car, using a laptop. I haven’t tried this yet. I think reading is good.

Too Cold to Walk

In reality I did set off to walk, but then noticed that it felt cold so I turned around. That’s when I decided to read. If it had been warmer I would have walked. It’s because I didn’t walk this morning, and because it became warmer this afternoon that I went for my second bike ride of the year. It was a 38 kilometre loop that I have done on a number of occassions over the years. I like the loop because I try to stay away from cars.

I don’t feel that I have peak cycling form yet. I need to cycle more often to get the right muscles back into good form. Of course gradient does have an effect. I haven’t cycled regularly in months and I am already climbing to the foot of the Jura and doing 38km loops rather than smaller easier rides.

Rest Tomorrow

Tomorrow will be a rest day. A rest day means I won’t walk more than 8 kilometres and I will remain on a relatively flat route

And Finally

Charging the car is a great opportunity to read in peace and quiet, especially when using a slow charger. Now that summer is coming back sports such as cycling are appealing, once again.
