A Big Seasonal Change and NixOS Continued
During the weekend it was warm and beautiful. It was so warm and beautiful that my bag got to 40+ degrees centigrade, with an average of over 30°c. Today as I drove to the shops for food I noticed that the snow line was even lower.
Yesterday it was on the top of the Jura, around La Dole, and today it’s down two thirds of the mountain. It’s cold enough to feel cold when walking. I need to wear more layers once again.
Running and Walking
Over the last two or three days I have been running and walking. Sometimes I start running immediately, and other times I walk to where it is flat before running, to have less climbing.
I am no longer running with the 108 CHF per three months Cyclon On Running shoes and using barefoot Trail Glove 7 once again. They’re better in all seasons and if they get wet they don’t look as dirty as brilliantly white shoes.
I really liked the idea of circular shoes, that are recycled after three months of use but I think the On shoes are cheaply made, and thus not worth the huge markup.
Blogging from VS Codium
Now that I finally got NixOS running on the Pi4 4gb that I have I am using it with VS Codium, Git FTP and more to blog with. It’s a low budget and yet effective solution for blogging without the need for an expensive laptop.
NextCloud with Ease but Not Other Instances
I wanted to run Nextcloud, Immich, Photoprism and Audiobookshelf on this instance but failed. The instances install with ease, but I don’t know how to access them. The default port addresses did not work so I need to read about, and understand why they don’t work as expected.
If I get all four instances to run on NixOS from the configuration.nix file then implementation will be symplified. For now I am left with Nextcloud. In reality I’d rather have audiobookshelf working, than nextcloud. I’ll experiment and get it to work.
And Finally
I joked that when the pandemic is over the weather would change. The pandemic has been over for most people since 2021. Now that I have decided to do group activites once again the weather has become more unstable.
The forecast for Sunday is that it will be overcast with thick clouds and from 0 to 7°c. We will see.
NixOS does feel slow on the Pi4 but now that I have it working on the Pi4 I can test it on the Pi5.
